The Keurig B40 Elite Brewing System is one of Keurig’s most popular models of single serve coffeemakers, and for good reason. The single serve coffee maker trend is continuing to pick up steam. Keurig single serve coffee makers appeal to coffee drinkers who do not need an entire pot of coffee, or for people who enjoy a variety of different flavors, or for people who like to drink one cup of coffee several times throughout the day.

More and more people are beginning to realize that single serve coffee makers make a great fit for their modern day coffee drinking habits. The Keurig B40 is the younger brother to the B60. The only difference in the two machines is the brew size options, and the B60 has a clock.

The B40 has two different size options, and the B60 has three options.

Let’s take a closer look at the B40’s Features:

  • 48 oz. water reservoir and a drip tray that are removable, for easy cleanup.
  •  2 brew sizes: 7-1/4-ounce, and 9-1/4-ounce
  • Automatic 2 hour shut-off, in case you forget to turn the machine off.
  •  The Descale indicator tells you when it is time to clean the machine to keep it running optimally.
  • 12.8 x 15.1 x 15.2 inches– I have found that this size fits perfectly on your desk at work, for personalized office coffee.

Now that we have gone over the basic features of the Keurig B40, let’s take a more in depth look at the pros and cons of this popular single serve coffee maker.

Pros of the B40:

Quick– The B40 brews your cup of coffee in less than a minute. This is the time it takes the machine to brew after you have already “primed” it for four minutes. The machine needs time to “prime” to heat up the water in the reservoir.

Versatile- the B40 can make coffee for either your travel mug, or for your favorite coffee cup. This single serve coffeemaker can also use standard K-cups or you can purchase and use the My K-cup coffee filter, specially made for your own coffee grounds to work with a Keurig.

Great Coffee- The Keurig makes an excellent cup of coffee, but the best part is the foolproof method. There is no room for error. Everything is measured out for you, calibrated, and ready to deliver exactly what you were hoping for.

Convenience- One of the B40’s biggest selling points is convenience. There is no mess; there are no measuring spoons, no filters, and no timers to set. You just pop your K-cup in the slot, stick your mug under the spout, and select your brew size, then go! In under a minute you have a steaming hot, fresh cup of coffee brewed just for you.

B40 Cons:

Brew Strength For Large Cups– If you are making coffee for the larger 9-¼ oz. size, then you should either use 2 K-cups, or purchase extra bold cups. Only using 1 K-cup of a regular blend coffee will turn out very weak coffee for the larger sized option.

Some Final Comments

The Keurig B40 is one of the most popular Keurig models for a reason. It is a straightforward, frill-free single serve coffee maker that gets the job done well.

If you are looking for a model for your desk at work, this is the one I intend to purchase for my husband’s desk for Father’s Day this year.
