George Foreman Grill Review
You get a whopping 72 inches of grilling surface with this small electric countertop grill. While it is designed to fit into a small space or counter top, the manufacturer really makes the most of that space and gives you ample room to cook your food.
Instead of coming with just a single upper plate and a single lower plate for cooking, the Foreman Grill comes with a total of five different grill plates. You get:
- a plate for waffles
- a griddle plate
- a baking plate
- a grilling plate
- a panini plate
Each plate is coated with a special non-stick coating that is also scratch resistant. This coating is exclusive to this line of products and is called the “George Touch” coating. The plates are all tripled coated in it for the best results. This coating ensures that your food does not stick to the plates. Another feature of these non-stick plates it that they promote low-fat cooking, which is excellent for your waistline and the health of your family.
The plates that come with the George Foreman Nonstick Grill can be hand washed or put in the dishwasher. They are 100 percent dishwasher safe, so you do not have to manually wash them if you do not want to do so. As you can see, the cleanup for this little grill is very easy.
Unlike some of the other small electric countertop grills that are available, this George Foreman grill has extra large handles on it. And you do not have to worry about them getting hot because they stay cool when the unit is in use.
The George Foreman GRP90WGR Nonstick Grill comes with two drip trays to catch the grease and fat that drips from the meat as you cook. You also get two spatulas to use with the grill, a recipe book, a cleaning sponge, and an instruction booklet.
Pros & Cons
Cooking with the Foreman Grill is a very simple process. One of the best things about using it is that it requires less energy than the kitchen stove or oven. This can be of real benefit if you are trying to lower your home energy costs. As an added bonus, many items seem to cook quicker on this little grill as opposed to cooking on the stove or in the oven.
With repeated, regular use, you might notice that the non-stick coating starts to come off in some spots. Cleaning carefully with a sponge can prolong this from occurring, but it does seem to be a common problem.
Since the temperature settings range from 1 to 3, it can be difficult to determine how long food needs to cook on this grill. It takes a lot of trial and error to determine cooking times, which is a pain at first but you get used to it.
