Coffee Makers

I believe humans get a lot done, not because we’re smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee.

~Flash Rosenberg

I have a love affair with my Coffee maker. It is more responsible for starting my morning off right than any other appliance in the house, even more important than the alarm clock. I cannot begin functioning until I have had my first coffee. I can’t get the children out of bed and start breakfast, I can’t even decide what to fix for breakfast until that first cup is down the hatch and coursing through my bloodstream.

If I have forgotten to pre-program my coffee maker the night before, I have a really tough time getting the coffee grounds and water into the machine, and then waiting the five brain-numbing minutes until the coffee is in my cup. It feels like torture!

Are you looking for one of the traditional best coffee makers, single serve coffee makers, or espresso machines and cappuccino makers?

What are your needs?

Do you need the coffee totally ready when you roll out of bed? Go with a traditional coffee maker.

Do you have only one or two coffee drinkers in your home? Go with a single serve coffee maker.

Do you like specialty drinks including espresso, mochas, cappuccinos, etc.? Go with the espresso maker.

Can you throw back multiple cups of coffee in an hour? Go traditional.

Do you like to sample all different flavors and types of coffee, without the commitment to purchase a whole pound of each type? Go with the single serve coffee maker.

Do you like to freshly grind your coffee beans every morning? Go traditional, or go with one of the espresso machines.

So, now that you have a better idea of which type of coffeemaker will be the best fit for you, let’s take a look at the best coffee makers in each category.

Best Traditional Coffee Makers

If you are looking at a traditional coffee maker, then you need to consider the most important features for these machines.

Again, consider the features that will make the perfect coffee maker for your particular coffee habit. My priorities may be different from yours.  I like lots of coffee and I like it ready when I wake up.

Top Coffee Maker Features To Consider:

  • Size of Carafe
  • Midstream Brew Pause (this is a MUST for me!)
  • Adjustable Heater Plate
  • Programmable Advanced Brew Start (another must for me)
  • Auto Shut-Off (this isn’t as important for me, there is never any coffee left!)
  • Smaller batch option
  • Built In Water Filter
  • Coffee Filter Basket (these are so nice to have when you run out of paper filters!)
  • Adjustable Brew Strength
  • Dishwasher Safe Carafe
  • Warranty

Let’s delve a bit deeper into what makes each of these machines a good, better, or best choice.  My best choice may not be the same as yours, but I’ll give you all the information you will need to make that decision.
